Fantasy Analysis of QB’s Coming of Injuries in 2007 Season

A crucial step for any fantasy owner during the off-season is to monitor the progress of injured players. It is especially important to do this when dealing with guys you view as potential first or second round picks, because you could potentially steal them when their value is low. It is also important because some owners might by-pass on a player because of last seasons injury and thus they draft a player with a lower ceiling for potential.

Jake Delhomme- Delhomme got off to a blazing start in the 2007 season throwing for 626 yards and 8 Td’s in three games. His season was cut short by a right elbow injury, that he had surgery to repair. He has been throwing the ball well, and is on pace to begin the season as the Panthers starter. With Steve Smith and the additions of Muhsin Muhammad and DJ Hackett look for Delhomme if he remains healthy to throw for 25 plus Td’s.

Matt Leinart- Leinart suffered a collarbone injury that cut his season short 5 games into last season. He has healed from that injury and has been named the starter for the 2008 season. With his struggles thus far during his NFL career and the fact that he has an experienced QB in Kurt Warner behind view Leinart as a low second QB.

Phillip Rivers- Rivers was able to show his toughness last season as he played through a torn ACL against Indianapolis. After undergoing surgery in January, Rivers is on track to begin the 2008 season as the Chargers starter. Another positive sign has been that Rivers has been running full-speed and has been taking snaps against the first team defense.

Jason Campbell- Campbell suffered a knee injury last season that cut short his breakout 2007 season. He is on pace as well to begin the 2008 season and with the new additions the Redskins acquired during the draft expect him to throw over 20 Td’s.

Matt Schaub- In his first season as a starter Schaub suffered a shoulder injury that cut short his year. He is viewed as probable for training camp and will begin the season as the Texans starter.

Marc Bulger- Bulgers season as was the Rams turned out to be a complete washout. Bulger suffered his worst season with the Rams as he dealt with assorted injuries. With Orlando Pace back protecting him and with a season to heal look for Bulger to revert back to old form and throw for 20 plus TD’s.
